LAND POLLUTION / GENERAL INFORMATION

Land pollution, the deposition of solid or liquid waste materials on land or underground in a manner that can contaminate the soil and groundwater, threaten public health, and cause unsightly conditions and nuisances.waste materials that cause land pollution are broadly classified as municipal solid waste (MSW, also called municipal refuse), construction and demolition (C&D) waste or debris, and hazardous waste. MSW includes nonhazardous garbage, rubbish, and trash from homes, institutions (e.g., schools), commercial establishments, and industrial facilities. Garbage contains moist and decomposable (biodegradable) food wastes (e.g., meat and vegetable scraps); rubbish comprisesmostly dry materials such as paper, glass, textiles, and plastic objects; and trash includes bulky waste materials and objects that are not collected routinely for disposal (e.g., discarded mattresses, appliances, pieces of furniture). C&D waste (or debris) includes wood and metal objects, wallboard, concrete rubble, asphalt, and other inert materials produced when structures are built, renovated, or demolished. Hazardous wastes include harmful and dangerous substances generated primarily as liquids but also as solids, sludges, or gases by various chemical manufacturing companies, petroleum refineries, paper mills, smelters, machine shops, dry cleaners, automobile repair shops, and many other industries or commercial facilities. In addition to improper disposal of MSW, C&D waste, and hazardous waste, contaminated effluent from subsurface sewage disposal (e.g., from septic tanks) can also be a cause of land pollution

The paper or papiro  is a writing or printing surface, it may come in different sizes, thicknes and colors, they have a very quite variety.

During history paper has been made of a wide range of materials. Ex. cotton, wood, pulp rice, water plants, hemp, etc...

In the paper printing process in order to create paper you will need: paper fiber, it’s main sources are wood log pulp and recycled paper products

By the creation of paper come many innovations, it helped the spread of literature and literancy, making the prices of books cheaper and more convenient to people.

The paper currency appeared in the tang dynasty, one dynasty after Cai lung dynasty, the creator of paper.

Cai Lun was born in Guiyang during the Eastern Han dynasty (AD 50-121)

In the year 89AD Cai Lun was promoted and given the tittle of Shang Fang Si, which means an officer that is in charge of the manufacturing of instruments and weapons of the empire.

Cai Lun invented the composition of paper as well as the paper printing process in the year 105AD, although many people say it has been credited with someone’s work, this from a lower class.

After been an important officer Cai Lun was a court eunuch, and other times as a palace attendant.

Cai Lun has receive many awards during history, one of the was given by the Chinese Government and consisted of given the name of the creator of paper to one crater on the dark side of the moon.

Why electric light was created?
They don’t have a concrete reason but it’s discovery and development was quite important to human history, the necessity to be created was that people needed light especially on the dark beacause lamps were no enough and sufficient powerful

One day Humphry Davy experimented and connected some wires to his battery and a piece of carbon, the carbon glowed, producing light.

AIR POLLUTION CONSEQUENCES

Acidification:
Chemical reactions involving air pollutants can create acidic compounds which can cause harm to vegetation and buildings. Sometimes, when an air pollutant, such as sulfuric acid combines with the water droplets that make up clouds, the water droplets become acidic, forming acid rain. When acid rain falls over an area, it can kill trees and harm animals, fish, and other wildlife. 

Health Problems:
In particular, air pollution can cause cardiovascular problems, allergies, asthma attacks, conjunctivitis, bronchial diseases, lung or skin cancers, vision problems, blood Problems in the mental development of the child, among others. The most vulnerable are children, the elderly, pregnant women and the sick.
