Effects of Air Pollution

Effects of Air pollution

What are some effects due to air pollution?

Respiratory and cardiovascular problems:
Air pollution is known for creating several respiratory and heart problems such as cancer, as well as many others. Millions of people are known that have died due to air pollution, people as well as children in areas exposed to air pollutants commonly suffer pneumonia and asthma.

Global Warming:
Another effect of air pollution is inmediato alterations to the ozone layer, more known as Global Warming, this change increased temperatures that result to the increase of sea levels,, melting of ice from colder regions and loss of habitats to many animals. Preservation and normalization aren’t taking soon enough to prevent this.

Acid Rain
When some harmful gases like nitrogen and sulfur oxides are released to the atmosphere during the burning of fossil fuels, the process began when it starts to rain, the water droplets combine with this pollutants, that is when it becomes acidic and fall down, causing great damage to human, animals and crops.

Depletion of Ozone Layer
Ozone exists in earth’s stratosphere and is responsible for protecting humans from harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays. Earth’s ozone layer is depleting due to the presence of chlorofluorocarbons, in the atmosphere. As ozone layer will go thin, it will emit harmful rays back on earth and can cause skin and eye related problems.

Air Pollution - Dereck Camacho

What is Air Pollution?
Air Pollution can be defined as the presence of toxic chemicals (compounds) of all types in the air at high health risk levels, this means the presence of chemicals which are not usually present on air (lower the quay alita of air). This can lead to the damage of the ozone layer and many other problems.

What are the causes of air pollution?
Air pollution causes may vary from the damage of the ozone layer or global warning, but in this article we will focus on one of the many causes of air pollution, burning of fossil fuels and agricultural activity.

  1. Burning of Fossil Fuels:
Sulfur dioxide is the major emitted gas from the burning of fossil fuels, petroleum and coal, this are one of the major causes of air pollution, also Pollution emitted from vehicles including trucks, jeeps, cars, trains, airplanes cause immense amount of pollution. (Carbon Monooxide caused by improper or incomplete combustion that is generally emitted by cars) another major pollutant is Nitrogen Oxides, that is produced from both natural and man made processes.

  1. Agricultural Activity:

A common result of agricultural activities is ammonia which is a very common product used on insecticides, pesticides and fertilizers for farming, this had become very usual in modern times also ammonia is considered one the most hazardous gases in the atmosphere. They also release methane by the maintain of animals such as cows, also release other harmful chemicals into the air that also may cause water pollution
